I know there are some professional writers lurking here on Spock_Uhura who have made the jump from fanfiction to original fiction and writing for a living. I'm curious how you've gone about it.
I really like the instant feedback I get online while writing fanfic. I don't think I could write a 100,000 word story without the constant commentary. Have any professionals out there written a novel online, then sold it? Will publishers not touch you if you've put your work online first?
I know in the tech world techies have published their blogs as books and people have bought the books even though all the content was available free.
Anyway...thoughts?
